Product infomation
General introduction of aluminum
Aluminum is the first most abundant element (after oxy and silicon), and the most abundant metal in the Earth's crust. Aluminum makes up about 17% of the Earth's solid mass. The rare aluminum metal is chemically reactive with ore samples and is limited in strongly depolarizing environments. However, it is still found in compound form in more than 2,700 different types of minerals.. The main ore containing aluminum is bauxite.
Aluminum has the distinction of being a low-density metal and is resistant to passive corrosion. Structural components made from aluminum and its alloys are vital to the aerospace industry and very important in other areas of transportation and structural materials. The most useful compounds of aluminum are the oxides and sulfates.
Features of Aluminum
Aluminum is a soft, light metal with a translucent silvery-white color, because there is a thin layer of oxidation that forms very quickly when it is exposed to air. The specific gravity of aluminum is only about a third of iron or copper; it is very soft (second only to gold), malleable (ranked sixth) and easily machined or cast; It is corrosion resistant and durable due to the protective oxide layer. It is also non-magnetic and does not burn when exposed to air under normal conditions.
